Have you ever just been so overwhelmed with stuff? Like it's literally everywhere and won't stop piling up? That's how I initially felt when I entered my first Twitter chat today. I was just there to observe and see how it works but my goodness!! I felt like I needed to have my phone updating the feed, then have two or three desktop windows open to click on other hashtags, look at profiles, post, and another window to find GIFS because apparently that's a thing on Twitter chats... who knew? But with all things in life, I just went with the flow. I stopped worrying about EVERY post and started reading the repetitive tweeters, I'd stop at random spots to slowly scroll when the feed became too much, and of course anything that the host posted I took notice of.  While this may not be the best tactic as a chat host, because you really should be paying attention to more than a few people, it worked for me as an observer with zero experience. Eventually, I

#LearnerExperience

This morning I was listening to the radio and heard a commercial for Florida's official tourism planning source,  VisitFlorida.com . They were talking about generating interest in the state by using #visitflorida when you post anything interesting about Florida. That's genius! This company promotes tourism and discovery using people who adventure and vacation here in order to attract others to come and share their experiences online too. The fact that this business is tapping into the community of REAL people (many of them bloggers) to share pictures of the natural beauty of the state, chamber of commerce that share links about local events, and travel agents that will gladly help you book excursions in a heartbeat is so simple, yet effective. Essentially the hashtag is a way to search for content that could create awareness, interest, or curiosity. What if this information sharing could lead to informal learning or more? Could learning and development companies use h

The time has come the walrus said... to dive into the world of Web 2.0, collaboration, social media, and social networking. From now until August, my sources of inspiration will focus on what I'm learning in my Instructional Systems and Learning Technology class at Florida State University- EME6414: Web 2.0-based Learning and Performance. I've been eager to start this class and am looking forward to posting about what I'm learning, reflecting on how it'll affect my design and development processes, and what I can do with my new found wisdom to influence how people learn, work, and use tools that foster inquiry and collaboration. Let the adventure begin and Go Noles!

Netflix and Chill

The title of this post may have different connotations depending on your age and lifestyle. For me it means hanging out in my p-jays with my dog watching documentaries about a range of topics. Tonight's topic: design and illustration. A Netflix series called Abstract: The Art of Design  follows and records artists from all mediums: print, automotive, engineering, etc. I was particularly interested in episodes 1 and 6. The way the artists use their environment as muses and not only see their work as a product but as a lifestyle. Of course this made me question, how can I use art to create a sense of learning lifestyle? I want to make my learners and clients come back for more because I have created an online learning experience like no other. In my ID journey, I found I work best when my inspiration comes from unrelated sources: gardens, museums, books, or even a Sunday church service that speaks to my soul. My work life and personal life meet in this grey area, but in order
